PT Special Education Teacher Job Summary:
Responsible for communicating and developing relationships with and supporting Braintree Academy students, and families with Special Education Services.
- Teacher Responsibilities:
- Assessing children’s skills and learning requirements through Standardized Testing
- Be prepared to explain to parents and general education teachers all evaluations done with students
- Designing Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans based on data and in accordance with Federal Sped Law.
- Collaborating with parents and school staff to track students’ progress.
- Communicate with families as needed. (ie, answer emails, texts, or call within 24 hrs)
- Develop a positive relationship with families and students.
- Meet with students as per IEP requirements virtually to work on and meet their IEP goals.
- Support families with suggestions and ideas to enhance learning as needed.
- Become familiar with BES Homeroom Resources.
- Assess students’ abilities and craft teaching plans if direct services are provided.
- Adapt learning materials to students’ needs
- Keep track of and reflect on students’ progress through the use of measurable data
- Communicate regularly with the Braintree Academy Administration.
- Schedule, send invitations to all those who need to attend and participate in any necessary special ed student meetings within the timelines given.
- Attend Inservice training as needed.
- Duties as assigned.
- Teacher Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Teaching or relevant field.
- Valid Indiana State Special Education certification (May apply for certification)
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
