Administers and provides occupational therapy and rehabilitation treatments prescribed by a physician.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide occupational therapy services under the direction of a physician.

  • Instruct, prepare, and reassure resident of treatment being performed.

  • Review the diagnosis of residents, evaluate the patient’s condition, establish a plan of treatment, and perform discharge planning and re-evaluation.

  • Apply appropriate treatments, exercises and ambulatory procedures, and informs the resident of the treatment process.

  • Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on resident progress and changing needs

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on restoring function and promoting independence

  • Monitor and ensure resident safety during treatments.

  • Provide care appropriate for the residents served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

  • Assess and interpret data on the resident’s status to identify residents’ requirements relative to their age specific needs and provide care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.

  • Maintain records associated with the resident's treatments.

  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with facility and regulatory standards

  • Communicate information to the director and physician on resident’s treatment progress as directed.

  • Assist in maintain stock levels of supplies and required equipment.

  • Ensure inventory is adequately stocked with supplies necessary for efficient operation.

  • Perform the sterilization of equipment and work area.

  • Perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment and ensure equipment is properly stored after use.

  • Report equipment problems to Rehabilitation Director.

     


OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:


  • Maintain confidentiality on a daily basis.

  • Work well with other employees.

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

  • Follow standard precautions when providing direct patient care.
