They are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, prepare financial statements, assist clients with budgeting, and contribute to month-end and year-end close activities.


Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day accounting operations for a variety of clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance
  • Prepare financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assist clients with budgeting, cash flow tracking, and financial reporting
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Maintain organized financial documentation to ensure audit readiness and compliance
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency through better use of systems and tools
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, resolve questions, and build trusted relationships
  • Participate in travel to client sites as required (typically monthly or biweekly)

Skills

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance, with CPA prerequisites completed or in progress, or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience, ideally in public accounting, government, or client-service environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to teach and support clients of varying financial skill levels
  • High attention to detail and a willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment
  • Comfortable working independently and traveling to client sites as needed
  • Exposure to or interest in Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and private clients (ASPE) is an asset but not required — training will be provided
