Shift Details: Hybrid, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm (Flexible), on-site at least 3 times per week, and includes 4 weeks of on call per year. Infection Preventionist will cover Med/Surg units at Froedtert Hospital.
Job Summary:
Has basic knowledge of epidemiologic principles and is an expert resource in preventing and controlling infections in the healthcare setting. Understands methods needed to reduce risks of infections and communicable diseases. Implements infection prevention and control processes, such as surveillance, data analysis, reporting, and education. Develops and maintains infection prevention and control policies and procedures that will guide process improvements. Utilizes accurate and continuous monitoring of regulatory guidelines and evidence-based research and works collaboratively with hospital staff and public health agencies to promote a safe environment for patients, hospital staff, and the community. Has excellent communication skills and works well with all members of the interdisciplinary team, being able to influence and guide change within the organization. Committed to professional growth, maintains certification, and participates in professional organization and continuing education opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience in healthcare or public health fields is required. Infection prevention and control experience in a hospital setting, preferred. Familiarity with adult education principles, data management, and quality improvement, preferred. Project Management experience, preferred.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, epidemiology or health care related field is required.
LICENSURE:
Certified Infection Control (CIC) certification must obtained within 3 years of employment.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Excellent project management skills including strong verbal and written communication, organizational, multi-tasking and time management, and ability to work well in a team environment. Analytical and logical approach to solving problems with ability to evaluate workflows and assist with process redesign where necessary. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Office applications. Experience working with EPIC systems.
