Hello, my name is Walt and I am looking to take on a full time Unity programmer to help me finish my indie game Alterspective.
- Key Information
- Salary Range: $70k to $80k (USD).
- Contract Length: 22 Months.
- Contract Start: Q3 2026
- Full time contract.
- Fully remote in the United States.
- Qualifications
- Demonstrable proficiency in Unity C# scripting and development.
- Has shipped at least one commercial title in a programming role.
- Experience working with an existing codebase.
- Excellent communicator in English.
- Tasks and Responsibilities
- Work and iterate on a complex character controller with custom physics and some never-before-seen problems related to the game's unique mechanics.
- Have good "game feel" instincts.
- Work with constantly saved data for a rewind system as well as systems for recording player's actions.
- Program interactable objects that interface with the player, including moving platforms.
- Program NPC behaviors.
- Program menus and UI systems.
- Design and program some runtime procedural generation.
- Handle game management, including saving, overall progress tracking, achievements, etc.
- Work with procedural art systems, including baked procedural modeling and GPU mesh instancing.
- Create systems to handle efficient open world streaming and LODs.
- Ability to prototype and iterate on one-off mechanics, such as minigames.
- Ability to fix bugs, reduce memory allocations and optimize.
- Working with Git version control.
- Working with build processes, including automation for certain tasks.
- Willingness to take on any other technical tasks that pop up!
- Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with graphics programming, tech art, and shaders.
- Experience shipping on consoles.
- Experience with Python and creating tools for Maya.
- Passion or interest to explore any other part of game development alongside your programming responsibilities.
