Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Technician at arenaflex, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy operations and delivering exceptional patient experiences. Your responsibilities will include:
- Patient Interaction: Greet and assist customers with warmth and professionalism, providing information about products and services while ensuring a positive pharmacy experience.
- Prescription Processing: Use pharmacy management systems to accurately enter patient and prescription information, process prescriptions, and verify medication accuracy before dispensing.
- Medication Preparation: Retrieve, count, pour, and label pharmaceutical medications, ensuring precision in dosage and adherence to quality standards.
- Drug Interaction Verification: Assist pharmacists in checking for possible drug interactions and alerting the pharmacist on duty to any concerns.
- Customer Issue Resolution: Address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns promptly, ensuring satisfaction and maintaining our reputation for excellent service.
- Cashier Operations: Operate pharmacy cash registers, handle cash transactions, process customer payments, and register all related income accurately.
- Third-Party Claims Processing: Correctly and efficiently submit and process manual claims for third-party prescription services.
- Inventory Management: Support pharmacy department inventory activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing prescription drug shipments while maintaining awareness of company asset protection protocols.
- Documentation: Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding error documentation and quality improvement programs.
- Compliance: Comply with state and federal regulations, as well as arenaflex pharmacy policies and procedures, including strict adherence to good faith dispensing requirements.
- Telephone Handling: Manage telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including physician communications.
- Clinical Support: Assist pharmacists in administering medical services, such as collecting and properly labeling blood/urine samples from patients, as required by state regulations.
- Community Relationships: Support the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining positive relationships with local medical communities, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
- Facility Maintenance: Assist with indoor and outdoor maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is adequately stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
- Team Collaboration: Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and complete special assignments as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or Store Supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (with the exception of positions in Puerto Rico)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Show commitment to providing exceptional customer service
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness to complete required certification programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
- Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
- Strong mathematical skills for accurately counting, measuring, and weighing medications
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy management systems
- Knowledge of store inventory management procedures
- Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification
- Familiarity with state and federal pharmacy regulations
- Experience with insurance claims processing
