Position Overview

We are seeking a highly competent and experienced professional to serve as a Denial Management, Pre-Registration, Authorization, and Patient Financial Communications (PFCC) Specialist. This critical role involves providing comprehensive support within our medical billing department, focusing on end-to-end Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) for collecting pending payments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounts, following up with insurance companies, reconciling accounts, filing corrected claims, appealing claims when appropriate, and diligently following up on all denials to ensure timely reprocessing and payment.

This position requires an individual who exhibits exceptional professionalism, trustworthiness, and unwavering commitment to quality. You will be responsible for monitoring transaction quality at regular frequencies, developing and overseeing quality control measures, and delivering structured curriculum in both live and virtual learning environments. The role also involves one-on-one coaching for ongoing performance improvements through refresher and remediation training programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Monitoring and Control: Systematically monitor the quality of all transactions at regular intervals to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with industry standards and company protocols.

  • Quality Control Development: Develop, oversee, and report quality control measures that align with best practices in medical billing and revenue cycle management.

  • Training Delivery: Own the delivery of structured curriculum provided in live and virtual learning environments, catering to both groups and individual learners across the organization.

  • Coaching and Mentorship: Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions for ongoing performance improvements through targeted refresher and remediation training programs tailored to individual needs.

  • Knowledge Management: Maintain detailed knowledge of process and role-specific job aids to support effective application of curriculum and ensure team members have access to comprehensive reference materials.

  • Performance Assessment: Assess new hire performance by monitoring, evaluating, and reporting training outcomes to both local managers and the central leadership team, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.

  • Collaboration: Liaise with supervisors and other leaders to identify performance issues where additional one-on-one support is required, ensuring timely intervention and support.

  • Content Development: Deliver and support the ongoing improvement of training content and programs based on new patient care delivery implementations, changes in existing processes, state/federal regulations, and accreditations/licensing standards.

  • Denial Management: Handle denial management processes, including collecting and managing accounts, following up with insurance companies, reconciling accounts, filing corrected claims, and appealing claims when appropriate.

  • Revenue Cycle Support: Work on end-to-end RCM operations for collecting pending payments while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:


  • Graduate or undergraduate degree with a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in denial management, accounts receivable (AR) collection, pre-registration, and authorization processes within the US healthcare system.

  • Strong knowledge of EPIC software – EPIC experience is highly preferred and will be considered a significant advantage.

  • In-depth knowledge of denial management, pre-registration, authorization, and patient financial communications (PFCC) procedures.

  • Thorough understanding of common healthcare industry terminology, practices, and procedures regarding medical billing and reimbursement.

  • General knowledge of how government and commercial payers reimburse healthcare services.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and professionally.

  • Proficiency in using Windows-based computer systems and common business software found in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to effectively and efficiently perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of ethics, coupled with a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.

  • Strong multitasking abilities with the capacity to establish and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Accurate typing and data entry skills at a minimum of 40 words per minute.
