The Position

We are seeking a seasoned and highly skilled Senior Technical Designer to join our team at arenaflex. As a Senior Technical Designer, you will play a crucial role in helping us develop a brand-new, AAA, multi-platform game. You will partner closely with the layout team to implement features and content in a clever, sturdy, and pragmatic way, acting as a pressure multiplier to extend the capability and ability of the layout crew.

Responsibilities

• Leverage your UE knowledge to assist and teach other designers


• Raise the technical capability and rigor of the design team through promoting correct practices


• Proactively seek out workflow and device upgrades


• Assist designers troubleshoot issues and implement solutions


• Implement strong, maintainable content and features in Unreal/Blueprint


• Write design specs, vet them with stakeholders, and make clever changes

Essential Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine and its capabilities (esp. Blueprint, UMG, Animation Blueprint, Gameplay Framework)


• Foundations of 3D math


• Good-sized programming skills with C++


• 2+ years of experience in a technical design position


• 1+ shipped titles in Unreal


• Experience delivering great multiplayer games


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills


• A passion for game development, incubating, building, and shipping video games

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming experience in Python, C#, and/or Lua


• Art and animation skills useful for early gameplay prototypes (e.g. the ability to model, rig, and animate simple placeholder meshes)
