Are you ready to lead the engineering teams that process petabytes of data powering innovative technology used by millions worldwide? arenaflex is seeking an accomplished, compassionate, and quality-driven Data Engineering Manager to own our Data and Distributed Computing engineering efforts within the Data Analysis group. This team drives the development of our massive data applications and pipelines, along with various distributed computing services and supporting applications. This group is a critical component in building, deploying, and running the essential applications upon which all of arenaflex's software depends.

Our Data Analysis team collects, stores, and analyzes diagnostics and usage data from arenaflex devices across the globe, continuously keeping client privacy at the forefront. Our data is used to generate insights that lead to and drive product strategies across all software and hardware development. We create and operate a variety of on-device software and Big Data products and applications to support these goals. These systems process multiple petabytes and billions of messages each day across diverse data types.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Team Development: Build and drive high-performance software engineering teams while fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement


• Technical Strategy: Architect, build, and maintain complex, multi-part big data systems that process petabytes of data daily


• Pipeline Management: Oversee the development, quality, and integrity of data pipelines that deliver diverse data types to engineering teams across the organization


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with multiple business and technical teams to achieve shared objectives


• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and career development support to experienced engineers


• Quality Assurance: Drive continuous code, application, and process improvements while maintaining high standards under pressure


• Privacy Excellence: Ensure all data handling practices maintain arenaflex's commitment to user privacy


• Scalability Leadership: Guide teams in solving challenges from device-level processing to enterprise-scale big data operations

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience


• Multiple years of Data Engineering management experience leading and supporting the development and maintenance of applications, tools, and processes


• Proven track record of building and driving high-performance software teams


• Strong sense of ownership of the development process with the drive to lead teams toward continuous improvement


• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across diverse business and technical teams


• Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills


• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining high quality and integrity


• Experience architecting, building, and maintaining complex, multi-part big data systems

Preferred Technical Skills

• Programming Expertise: Master-level proficiency in at least two of the following languages and related development tools: Python, Ruby, Java, Scala, Swift, or Objective-C


• Big Data Platforms: Experience with one or more of the following: HDFS, Yarn, Flash, Impala, Kafka, HBase, MapReduce, Kubernetes, Object Store, or Flink


• Data Engineering Tools: Master-level experience with Data Engineering tools, methodologies, processes, and best practices


• Distributed Systems: Deep understanding of distributed computing concepts and large-scale system architecture


• Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud-based data processing and storage solutions
