The Ring Data Warehouse team plays a critical role in this mission by managing the centralized data repository for Ring. We ingest and publish data from various internal and external sources, making it accessible and actionable for teams across the organization including Ring Product Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, Customer Service, and Sales. As a Data Engineer II, you will be instrumental in expanding and improving this data ecosystem, working with cutting-edge AWS technologies and collaborating with talented professionals across multiple business verticals.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer II on the Ring Data Warehouse team, you will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that directly impact how Ring operates and serves its customers. Your daily responsibilities will include:


  • Collaborate with Business Partners: Gather and discuss data requirements from business partners across various verticals including Subscriptions, Sales, Reverse Operations, Finance, Product, and more. You will work closely with these stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the data being ingested addresses their business requirements effectively.

  • Build Data Ingestion Solutions: Design and implement new data ingestion pipelines using a combination of native AWS services as well as internal arenaflex tools and technologies. You will be responsible for creating robust, scalable solutions that can handle diverse data sources and formats.

  • Maintain and Improve Existing Systems: Take ownership of maintaining and enhancing existing data ingestions while ensuring they meet evolving standards and corporate requirements. You will identify opportunities for optimization and implement improvements to enhance performance and data quality.

  • Develop Tools and Instruments: Build, improve, and maintain systems or tools for both internal team use and external partner use to effectively manage data. This includes creating dashboards, automation scripts, and documentation that empower others to work with data more efficiently.

  • Code Review and Best Practices: Perform code reviews and ensure best practices are followed for ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data hygiene by team members and supporting groups. You will serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for data engineering standards.

  • Learn and Adapt Quickly: Demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and business needs rapidly. You will be expected to stay current with emerging trends in data engineering and cloud computing, assembling and improving processes and workflows accordingly.

Who We're Looking For: Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:


  • 3+ Years of Data Engineering Experience: A proven track record of working in data engineering roles, with hands-on experience in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and warehouse solutions.

  • Data Modeling and Warehousing Expertise: Strong experience with data modeling concepts and techniques, as well as building ETL pipelines. You should understand dimensional modeling, star schemas, and best practices for organizing data in a warehouse environment.

  • SQL Proficiency: Demonstrable experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis. You should be comfortable working with large datasets and understanding query execution plans.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will help you stand out:


  • AWS Technologies Experience: Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, AWS Glue, Amazon EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions. Familiarity with building serverless data solutions and understanding of AWS data architecture patterns.

  • Programming Skills: Experience with at least one modern programming or scripting language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS. This will enable you to build custom data processing solutions and automate workflows.

  • Non-Relational Database Experience: Experience working with non-relational data stores including object storage (like S3), document databases, key-value stores, graph databases, and column-family databases. Understanding of when to use different types of data stores for various use cases.
