Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to construct and maintain large-scale data pipelines that support advanced analysis and data science initiatives. In this role, you will identify valuable internal and external data sources and collaborate closely with data scientists to define data requirements for the design, development, and deployment of new solutions that meet evolving business needs.
As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in our technology infrastructure, ensuring that our data systems are robust, secure, and capable of handling complex analytical workloads. Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for the following:
- Data Pipeline Development: Create programming that processes, stores, and serves data for use by analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders across the organization.
- Data Modeling and Architecture: Design and develop data models and pipelines to integrate, collect, and normalize data that produces meaningful insights and addresses comprehensive reporting needs.
- ETL Process Development: Write Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for both real-time and batch analytical processing.
- Scalable Solutions: Develop data pipelines that are flexible, repeatable, and secure, ensuring high availability and performance under varying workloads.
- Data Quality Assurance: Analyze programming and processes for data consistency and integrity, implementing best practices to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
- Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring adherence to data quality and accessibility standards throughout the organization.
- Problem Resolution: Effectively troubleshoot issues and barriers as they occur, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth data operations.
- Collaboration: Engage with internal and external peers as well as supervisors to exchange complex information related to assigned activities and projects.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field; alternatively, a combination of education and equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related technical discipline. Candidates with an advanced degree in a technical discipline may be considered with less experience.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SQL, including complex query writing, optimization, and database design principles.
- Relationship Building: Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal stakeholders (peers, colleagues, and leadership) and external partners (business community, clients, and vendors) within a matrix organization to ensure quality standards for service delivery.
- Data Analysis Skills: Experience analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions that drive improvement of results and lead to effective solutions.
- Travel Availability: Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes, including both in-state and out-of-state travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:
- Advanced Education: Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- API Development: Experience with REST API development and integration.
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Experience with Microsoft Azure application deployment and cloud-based solutions.
- Azure Technologies: Hands-on experience with Azure technologies including:
- Azure Data Factory for data integration and ETL
- Azure Databricks using Python or Scala for big data analytics
- Azure Application Services
- Azure Data Lake for scalable storage
- Azure Functions for serverless computing
- Event Hubs and Event Grids for event-driven architectures
- Logic Apps for workflow automation
- DevOps and Automation: Experience in building Azure DevOps pipelines to enable Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation practices.
