As a Customer Service Representative in our Utility Call Center, you'll be responsible for handling a high volume of customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints via phone, email, and in-person. You'll use your excellent communication and problem-solving skills to resolve customer issues, provide billing information, and answer questions related to our services. You'll also be responsible for updating customer records, completing necessary forms and documents, and referring customers to appropriate offices or agencies as needed.

  • *Key Responsibilities**
  • Handle a high volume of customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints via phone, email, and in-person
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely and professional manner, using excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Provide billing information, answer questions related to our services, and explain applicable policies and procedures to customers
  • Update customer records, complete necessary forms and documents, and refer customers to appropriate offices or agencies as needed
  • Use professionally assertive communication and negotiation skills to handle difficult customers
  • Enter accurate and complete information to update customer records and confirm conversations and interactions with customers
  • Follow up with customers as necessary to meet required service levels
  • Perform other job-related duties as required
  • *Essential Qualifications**
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One year of full-time paid experience handling telephone and/or walk-in customers with emphasis on customer service, collections, billing, and/or service complaints in a high-volume business (office) environment
  • Experience in a utility call center is preferred
  • Completion of a customer service specialization certification and training program together with one year of full-time paid experience handling telephone and/or walk-in customers with emphasis on customer service, collections, billing, and/or service complaints in a high-volume business (office) environment
  • Completion of any related arenaflex apprenticeship program
  • Intermediate level knowledge and skill operating a personal computer, navigating the internet, and Microsoft Word and Excel, and/or customer account database
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak a second language is preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to manage heavy call volume in a timely manner
  • Ability to follow all communication procedures, policies, and guidelines during every customer interaction
  • Ability to identify customer issues with information presented and ensure resolution
  • Good organizational and time-management skills

  • Experience working in a fast-paced call center environment
  • Knowledge of utility industry and customer service principles
  • Certification in customer service or a related field
