Role Overview


We are currently seeking an experienced Big Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain our Voice of Customer analytics platform. This is a remote position offering competitive compensation of $35 per hour, with the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to transform raw customer data into actionable insights that drive business decisions and improve customer satisfaction.

You will be responsible for developing robust data architectures, implementing efficient processing pipelines, and ensuring data quality across our big data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities



  • Collaborate with Utility Teams: Work closely with business stakeholders and utility teams to understand, define, body, and capture commercial enterprise needs. Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and data solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Voice of Customer (VOC) Analytics: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Voice of Customer methodologies. Leverage these insights to design and transform data within our cornerstone big data platform, ensuring accurate representation of customer feedback and sentiments.
  • Data Architecture Design: Design and build robust data model architectures that support optimal data processing and standardized metric definitions. Create scalable structures that enable efficient analysis and reporting across multiple use cases.
  • Big Data Solution Development: Implement big data and batch/real-time analytical solutions using transformational technologies including Hadoop, HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, and Python. Deliver innovative solutions that ensure data quality and accuracy through intensive testing at variable and use case levels.
  • Performance Optimization: Provide pointers and recommendations to enhance competencies and drive efficiency in computing programs using the massive data ecosystem. Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to optimize system performance.
  • Consumer Tale Analysis: Power consumer tale analysis and elaboration, including the design and development of software programs. Conduct testing and build automation tools that streamline data processing workflows.
  • Process Automation: Proactively identify and automate manual tasks to improve quality and operational efficiency. Reduce manual intervention through intelligent automation solutions that enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work carefully with partners from various business units to prioritize, define, increase, and test data for different use cases as part of the VOC end-to-end process. Ensure seamless integration between technical solutions and business requirements.

Essential Qualifications



  • Technical Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on development experience with Hive/Hadoop, PySpark, Python, and Shell Scripting languages. Strong understanding of development lifecycle management and troubleshooting for data-driven projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to actively collaborate with relationship managers and product owners to understand functional requirements and convert them into technical deliverables. Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and business teams.
  • Agile Methodology: Familiarity with Agile methodologies of delivery, with experience in working in environments where small increments of a product are introduced at regular intervals to business groups. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deliver incremental value.
  • Data Quality Focus: Strong commitment to data quality and accuracy, with experience in implementing testing protocols and validation processes to ensure reliable outputs.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex data challenges and develop innovative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with real-time streaming data processing frameworks beyond the standard big data ecosystem

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and their big data services

  • Background in financial services or customer experience analytics

  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in customer analytics

  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques

  • Previous work with Voice of Customer programs or customer feedback systems
