About the Role
Our team is dedicated to making search and learning experiences extraordinary for all STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) symbolic and procedural homework questions. In this role, you'll combine Math Solver Systems into our search infrastructure, platformize them for use across various surfaces including educational tools and classroom platforms, and build other STEM capabilities that will transform how students interact with mathematical and scientific content.
As a Backend Software Engineer at arenaflex, you'll work primarily on the server-side (C++) implementation of these sophisticated systems. You'll collaborate with talented engineers, product managers, and designers to create robust, scalable solutions that serve millions of users daily. This position offers tremendous opportunities for professional growth as you tackle new challenges across the entire technology stack while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in educational technology.
What You'll Do
As a key member of our STEM education technology team, you will:
- Lead initiatives that help students learn Math and other STEM subjects, with a primary focus on the backend (C++) development side of our Math Solver Systems
- Write and test product or machine development code that powers our STEM problem-solving capabilities, ensuring reliability and performance at scale
- Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to determine the best available technologies for each challenge
- Review code developed by other developers and provide constructive feedback to ensure adherence to best practices, including style guidelines, code check-in procedures, accuracy, testability, and efficiency
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt materials based on product/application updates and user feedback
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams working on search, artificial intelligence, and educational platforms to integrate STEM solutions seamlessly
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
