Foreign Policy is a global media company dedicated to explaining the world's most complex issues. They are seeking an Events Research Fellow to support the development of high-level global convenings by producing speaker briefings, conducting research, and creating written materials that translate complex international issues into compelling event programming.


Responsibilities

  • Produce concise, well-sourced event and session sketches, briefing documents, and background materials to support moderators, speakers, and event programming
  • Research and recommend speakers and participants aligned with event themes and audience goals
  • Draft clear, professional written materials, including briefing notes, speaker rationales, invitations, and internal summaries
  • Conduct research across Foreign Policy’s core coverage areas, including geopolitics, economics, climate, technology, security, and global health
  • Support development of session descriptions, moderator notes, event sketches, and related programming materials as needed
  • Research, verify, and maintain contact information, lists, trackers, and shared materials that support event development and outreach
  • Track relevant developments and fact-check information used in event briefs and related copy
  • Collaborate with FP Events, Editorial, and external stakeholders to support high-quality, well-informed programming

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in international affairs, public policy, journalism, political science, history, or a related field
  • Demonstrated research and writing experience, with the ability to synthesize complex topics clearly, accurately, and concisely
  • Strong familiarity with one or more of the core issues Foreign Policy covers, and broad interest across global affairs
  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to draft polished, professional correspondence for internal and external audiences
  • Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, proactive communicator comfortable working across teams
  • Experience producing memos, briefing documents, policy notes, backgrounders, or similar written materials for senior stakeholders
