Jacobs is focused on solving critical problems for sustainable cities and environments. They are seeking an early-career Environmental Engineer or Scientist to perform laboratory studies for site characterization and remediation projects, working closely with technical experts to ensure high-quality delivery of test results.


Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory treatability studies associated with site characterization and remediation projects for government and private-sector clients
  • Interact with Jacobs’ technical experts to develop field sampling and test plans
  • Execute tests, coordinating between project, analytical laboratory, and vendor groups to ensure high-quality delivery of test results
  • Plot data and create project updates, technical reports, presentations, and journal publications to support the engineering team in developing remedial strategies

Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering), Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geology, or Hydrogeology
  • 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a role with self-led research or consulting responsibilities
  • Proficiency in technical writing (publication of thesis or journal articles preferred)
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER certification or the ability to attain this certification
  • Valid drivers license is required
  • United States Citizenship required
  • Must be local to Corvallis, OR
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and in a regionally-diverse team environment
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to mentally walk through a process to identify and close gaps in written procedures for non-standard tasks to ensure all objectives will be met
  • Familiarity with standard environmental test methods and procedures
