Role Overview
The Risk Finance group at arenaflex is responsible for the planning, forecasting, and evaluation of global Loss Provision and Credit Reserves. This critical function provides credit-related decision support to Risk Management, local Finance, and business teams on underwriting, customer management, credit, and collections activities.
We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Data Science to lead our Global Data Strategy group within Risk Finance. The primary responsibility of this team is to build and maintain centralized reporting capabilities, implement process improvements and automation, and ultimately drive revolutionary data solutions that provide robust forecasts and analytics for the wider Risk Finance organization. As the Director, you will oversee the strategic analysis of credit metrics, credit provisions, and reserves for Senior Management in Risk and Finance, playing a pivotal role in informing executive decisions and driving business success.
Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Data Science at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with a comprehensive set of responsibilities that span strategic analysis, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. - Strategic Credit Analysis: Lead the strategic evaluation of arenaflex credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve analysis for Senior Management in Risk and Finance, delivering insights that inform critical business decisions and shape organizational strategy.
- Data Asset Management: Own precise data assets and packages within Risk Finance, and become a power user of the relevant tools. Troubleshoot issues, reconcile results, identify enhancements and automation possibilities, and educate other customers to drive adoption across the organization.
- Reporting Development: Develop and maintain standard and ad hoc reports used by Risk Finance and/or business partners, providing credit-related analytical support that enables data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
- Executive Presentation: Develop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior Management, translating complex data findings into clear, compelling narratives that drive strategic action.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio groups and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Technology, and other key stakeholder areas to ensure alignment and maximize impact.
- Decision Support Analytics: Provide decision support with a strong emphasis on developing analytics that identify trends and opportunities within the portfolio, which can be used to optimize Business and Risk decisions.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide a team of talented data professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Process Innovation: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains within the Risk Finance data infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in data science, analytics, and financial services. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capabilities.
- Advanced Technical Experience: Extensive experience working with SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, and TM1 is required. Proficiency in at least three of these tools is essential for success in this role.
- Microsoft Office Expertise: Experience working with an advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint is required, including the ability to create sophisticated financial models, dynamic dashboards, and compelling executive presentations.

Compensation and Benefits
