Position Overview: Data Scientist – Cost & Operations Analysis

We are currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our Cost and Operations Analysis team within the Analytics and Behavior Change division. In this critical role, you will build industry-leading analysis, data, and technology platforms that help redefine healthcare delivery.

You will play a vital role within a cross-functional team, delivering robust solutions that drive efficiency, improve automation, and enhance the provider experience. This position offers the opportunity to work with massive volumes of healthcare data, develop predictive models, and create actionable insights that shape the future of healthcare operations.

Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for analysis that improve efficiency and increase automation in claims settlement and claims management processes. Key Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for executing advanced analytical projects that directly impact our operational effectiveness. Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Model Development and Execution: Design, develop, and implement models, tools, and algorithms that enhance processes within our healthcare claims environment. You'll create solutions that streamline operations and improve accuracy.

  • Opportunity Identification: Identify and quantify opportunities for analysis to improve efficiency and increase automation in claims settlement and claims management processes. Your insights will drive strategic decision-making.

  • Predictive Modeling: Create, validate, and execute algorithms and predictive models to investigate complex issues, identify patterns, and recommend data-driven solutions that address business challenges.

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze, examine, and interpret large volumes of data in various forms to extract meaningful insights that inform business strategy and operational improvements.

  • Complex Problem Solving: Perform investigations using structured and unstructured data to solve reasonably complex business issues, translating analytical findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Statistical Analysis: Apply advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses to uncover trends, correlations, and insights hidden within our healthcare datasets.

  • Data Pipeline Development: Develop data models and pipelines to integrate, collect, and normalize data that produces actionable insights and meets reporting requirements across the organization.

  • Data Visualization: Utilize data visualization techniques to effectively communicate analytical results and support business decisions, making complex findings accessible to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Data Integrity Management: Create and evaluate the data needs of assigned projects, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data used in analyses and reporting.

  • Data Source Enhancement: Analyze existing data and recommend additional sources of data that could improve analysis quality and provide more comprehensive insights.

Required Qualifications & Skills

To succeed in this role, you'll need a combination of education, experience, and technical expertise. We're looking for candidates who demonstrate strong analytical capabilities and a passion for data-driven problem solving.

Essential Requirements:


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 2+ years of relevant analytical experience in data science, business analytics, or a similar role. Experience in healthcare analytics is highly preferred.

  • Programming Expertise: Strong experience programming using R or Python, with the ability to develop efficient and scalable analytical solutions.

  • Database Skills: Demonstrated experience with SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis from large relational databases.
