Computer Operator

Modern Woodmen of America is one of the nation’s largest fraternal benefit societies, and they are seeking a third-shift Computer Operator to execute and monitor real-time and batch programs and systems. The successful candidate will operate computer equipment, prepare operation schedules, and communicate with IT staff regarding job scheduling and production status.


Responsibilities

  • Operates computer equipment for scheduled, special, and test programs
  • Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and EOY operation schedules and reports, analyzing projects to determine best schedule for production
  • Receives and transmits data among third parties and monitors production processing
  • Monitors printing systems so that the files are ready to be printed
  • Works with external hardware and software vendors to schedule maintenance, software/hardware updates or changes
  • Records and logs all production job errors, warning and operations problems
  • Communicates with appropriate Information Technology staffing concerning job scheduling, production status, and equipment/program malfunctions
  • Maintain Operational and Computer Room documentation for internal and external audit requirements
  • Perform other duties as directed

Skills

  • Associate degree or specialized training in computer operations or related field
  • Intermediate knowledge of working with Windows OS Servers
  • Working knowledge of batch systems, including monitoring and relaying critical incidents to the appropriate parties
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team structure
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn
