Position Overview

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized APAC Payroll Specialist to join our growing Finance and Payroll team. This is a newly created remote position based in our Philippines office, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficient and accurate processing of payroll for our employees across the Asia-Pacific region.

As an integral member of our payroll operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring timely and precise compensation processing while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with regional statutory requirements. This position offers exposure to multi-country payroll operations and collaboration with cross-functional teams across different time zones.

Key Responsibilities

As an APAC Payroll Specialist at arenaflex, your core responsibilities will include:


  • Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for assigned APAC countries using our third-party payroll infrastructure, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in every pay cycle.

  • Expense Management: Process weekly expense reports in-house through our Workday host-to-host payment system, maintaining precision and adherence to company policies.

  • Employee Data Management: Prepare, post, and manage payroll changes including new hires, terminations, and status changes for each entity, ensuring all updates are processed timely through Workday HCM.

  • Compliance & Documentation: Responsible for reporting new hire and leaver files to payroll providers within required timelines, ensuring all documentation complies with local regulatory requirements.

  • Validation & Quality Control: Perform rigorous validation of payroll input against payroll checks and coordinate with payroll carriers for necessary changes and corrections.

  • Payment Coordination: Coordinate with payroll providers to ensure timely payout to employees and statutory payments, maintaining excellent relationships with external partners.

  • Reporting & Analysis: Execute tasks associated with monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reporting and taxation activities, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.

  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll inquiries through our Zendesk ticketing system, providing exceptional support and resolution.

  • Financial Operations: Record, screen monthly payroll costs, and raise purchase orders as needed for payroll-related expenses.

  • Contract Management: Report and monitor payroll providers' contract renewal dates, ensuring continuity of service and optimal vendor management.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with Philippines and Singapore team members while following global system alignment and best practices.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

To succeed in this role, you must possess:


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, or a related field is required.

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll and accounting processing within a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) or shared services environment.

  • Regional Expertise: Demonstrable experience in APAC payroll operations, with specific knowledge of payroll processes in Korea, Australia, and India being highly advantageous.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll and associated statutory labor laws required for accurate payroll-related calculations and compliance.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Microsoft Excel and Word, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills required. Experience with Workday HCM is preferred.

  • Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory. Knowledge of additional Asian languages is a plus.

  • Organization Skills: Exceptional attention to detail with high accuracy in transactional work, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Remote Collaboration: Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively with APAC team members across different locations and time zones.
