The California Department of Social Services is dedicated to serving and supporting the people of California experiencing need. The Analyst I role involves performing analytical functions to support the Department's hiring efforts, including reviewing candidate applications and utilizing the Examination and Certification Online System to facilitate the hiring process.


Responsibilities

  • Perform average to difficult analytical functions to support the Department's hiring efforts
  • Reviewing candidate applications to assess reachability and minimum qualifications
  • Addressing detected deficiencies through interaction with the candidate, including a temporary withhold process
  • Creating a defendable justification to support eligible determinations
  • Responding to State Personnel Board appeals
  • Utilize the Examination and Certification Online System (ECOS) to facilitate the hiring process to recruit high-quality candidates and ensure the civil service merit system is up

  • A Statement of Qualifications or Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted along with your application to be considered for this position
  • Applications submitted without an SOQ may be disqualified for this position
  • You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD 678)
  • If you are meeting minimum qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts for verification
  • If selected, you may be required to provide official transcripts at the time of hire

  • Describe a time when you had to interpret and apply a specific law, policy, or regulation in your work

  • All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position
