MarketAxess is on a journey to digitally transform one of the world’s largest financial markets, enabling the shift from analog, phone-based trading to a fully electronic marketplace. The Analyst, Accounting will support core accounting functions including intercompany settlements, prepaid assets, and month-end close activities, while also assisting with tax support and audit requests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions, including monthly settlements and balance sheet reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve intercompany variances in coordination with domestic and international finance teams
- Maintain prepaid expense schedules, record monthly amortization entries, and ensure accurate expense recognition
- Assist with month-end accruals and related balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with monthly income tax accounting processes, including preparation and support of income tax calculations, reconciliations, and related journal entry support
- Support the preparation of income tax return workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation, and assist with responding to information requests from internal stakeholders and external advisors
- Oversee T&E expense accounting, including review of employee expense reports for policy compliance, proper coding, and timely reimbursement
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve T&E-related questions and support process improvements
- Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Assist with SOX documentation, control walkthroughs, and ongoing process documentation
- Respond to internal and external audit requests, ensuring timely and accurate support
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, documentation, and controls within assigned accounting areas
- Support accounting process improvements and system enhancements as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or another STEM‑related field
- 1+ years of relevant experience, including internships or co‑op experience
- Basic understanding of employee expenses, intercompany and Prepaid Asset processes, internal controls, and reconciliation practices
- Interest in or exposure to data and analytics tools such as Excel (advanced), Power BI or other BI tools, Alteryx, SQL, Python, or similar technologies
- Interest in automation, data analytics, and emerging AI applications within accounting and finance
- Familiarity with NetSuite system is a plus but not required
