About the Role
As a Senior Data Analyst at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in driving the evolution of our recommendation systems. You will be responsible for designing, running, and analyzing A/B tests of new recommendation algorithms and methodologies. Your work will directly influence how customers discover products on our platform, making this a highly visible and impactful position within the organization.
Your analytical expertise will be crucial in developing new testing and test analysis frameworks that set the standard for experimentation across the company. You will also be responsible for KPI reporting and monitoring, including building anomaly detection tools and implementing advanced measurement approaches that provide real-time insights into system performance.
What You'll Do
- Conduct Univariate Exploratory Data Analysis: Run comprehensive exploratory data analysis to identify novel ideas, uncover hidden patterns, and discover new opportunities for improving our recommendation systems. Your insights will directly inform product strategy and roadmap decisions.
- Design and Execute A/B Tests: Plan, implement, and analyze A/B tests of our latest recommendation algorithms. Develop robust testing methodologies that provide statistically significant results and drive actionable business decisions.
- Proactive Model Monitoring: Continuously monitor our recommendation models to identify potential issues before they impact customers. Investigate root causes of anomalies and implement effective solutions to maintain optimal system performance.
- Tool Development: Build new tools and automation capabilities that enable the team to work more efficiently and effectively. This includes developing QA tools to better understand the performance of new algorithms before deploying them to production A/B tests.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and machine learning partners to establish strong working relationships. Collaborate on initiatives that bridge technical and business objectives.

What You'll Need
We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in analytical roles within e-commerce or related industries. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights that drive measurable business outcomes.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Advanced degrees are a plus but not required.
- SQL Expertise: In-depth experience with SQL, including complex queries, query optimization, stored procedures, string parsing, and familiarity with big data platforms such as Vertica, Hive, Voila, or Flash. This is a mandatory requirement.
- Python Proficiency: Extensive experience with Python and Python data science tools including Jupyter notebooks, pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, and related libraries. You should be comfortable writing efficient, production-ready code.
- Experimental Design: Experience with experimental design (A/B tests) and statistical analysis to drive business decision-making. Familiarity with statistical testing methodologies, confidence intervals, and causal inference is highly preferred.
- Machine Learning Knowledge: Understanding and experience applying machine learning algorithms and techniques such as decision trees, random forests, deep learning, and recommendation systems within a commercial setting is highly preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. You must be able to tell compelling stories with data.
