Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing comprehensive QA activities throughout the product design and manufacturing lifecycle. You will support our engineering and quality teams in developing robust testing protocols, analyzing test results, and ensuring that all products meet or exceed customer requirements and industry standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in QA/QC, product development, and testing methodologies, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality departments, manufacturing, and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance Execution: Execute QA activities for product design exercises and QC for creation and production support, ensuring comprehensive coverage throughout the product lifecycle.
- Team Support: Provide dedicated support to engineering and quality teams, collaborating seamlessly to address quality concerns and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Testing Planning and Execution: Plan and execute surveys of testing activities for development and conformance, ensuring all testing phases are properly documented and executed.
- Test Plan Development: Foster and develop detailed test plans for all phases of product testing, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and acceptance testing.
- Methodology Development: Develop test methodologies, test cases, and survey results documentation to ensure comprehensive coverage and repeatability.
- Engineering Reviews: Participate in Bill of Plan evaluations, including CTS (Component Test Specification), DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report), and CTR (Component Test Reports).
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Provide analysis from tests conducted and historical data, identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Documentation Management: Create, maintain, and improve technical archives, formats, and quality documentation to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Schedule Development: Create test development timelines and test execution plans, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining quality standards.
- Failure Analysis: Research test failures through data analysis and assess risk of failure in the field, implementing preventive measures.
- Warranty Support: Support warranty claims processing with accurate internal data and technical analysis.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks in design and manufacturing that could affect customer quality, implementing mitigation strategies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain strong working relationships with the engineering team, quality department, manufacturing, and production to ensure alignment and efficient problem-solving.
- Capacity Studies: Perform capacity studies and gauge R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) studies to ensure measurement system accuracy.
- Root Cause Analysis: Apply root cause analysis techniques and create quality documentation to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
- QA/QC Support: Provide QA support during product development and R&D, and QC support during manufacturing and production phases.
- Quality Processes: Apply knowledge of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), and other quality approval processes.
- Requirements Verification: Audit and execute client requirements from Statements of Requirements (SOR) or technical specifications/prerequisites.
- Pre-Production Coordination: Coordinate engineering and pre-production builds to ensure smooth transition to full-scale production.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Science or equivalent technical degree. Candidates without a degree but with sufficient relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in QA/QC, validation, testing, and product development.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of quality management systems and testing methodologies.
- Process Knowledge: Familiarity with PPAP, APQP, and other quality approval processes.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and root cause analysis techniques.
- Documentation Skills: Strong ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and other failure analysis methodologies.
- Knowledge of DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) processes.
- Experience with gauge R&R and capacity studies.
- Background in manufacturing quality control.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
