The Sponsored Search Information team at arenaflex is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our industry-leading Sponsored Search advertising platform. We work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, accessibility, and reliability for analytics and reporting. Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in a remote-first capacity. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and cutting-edge technologies that power one of the world's largest e-commerce platforms.
As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for building and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and store massive volumes of data to support advertising operations on arenaflex.com and its subsidiaries. You will collaborate with talented engineers, product managers, QA specialists, and partner operations teams to deliver high-quality data solutions that drive business growth.

What You'll Do
As a key member of our data engineering team, you will:
- Design and Build Robust Data Pipelines: Create and maintain flexible, high-performance data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing large volumes of data to support our sponsored search advertising platform and other critical business functions.
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Work extensively with cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for data storage, processing, and analysis. Leverage cloud-native services to build scalable and cost-effective solutions.
- Containerized Application Deployment: Design, develop, and deploy large-scale, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in public cloud environments such as Google GCP and Microsoft Azure.
- Database Management: Design and implement efficient data models for optimal storage and retrieval. Work with both relational databases (like Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases such as Cassandra to meet diverse data storage requirements.
- Real-Time Data Processing: Implement and maintain real-time text processing using Apache Kafka, enabling immediate insights and responsive advertising capabilities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Scrum teams, QA, Product, Program Management, and Partner Operations while coordinating with cross-functional enterprise development teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- On-Call Support: Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations to investigate and resolve production issues across cross-functional teams, ensuring system reliability and performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving existing processes, tools, and systems to achieve high scale and productivity. Bring a growth-oriented mindset and willingness to raise the technical bar.
What You'll Bring
Essential Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in data engineering concepts, database design, ETL processes, and data mining techniques.
- Proficiency in working with data technologies including SQL, Python, Flash, Scala, Hadoop, and related technologies and tools.
- Strong experience with ETL tools such as Apache Airflow (note: "Wind current" appears to be a typo for Airflow).
- Solid skills working with relational databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database) and NoSQL databases such as Cassandra.
- Experience with real-time text processing using Apache Kafka for streaming data architectures.
- Experience in designing and implementing data models for efficient storage and retrieval in high-volume environments.
- A growth-oriented mindset with a willingness to raise the technical bar and identify opportunities for improving existing processes, tools, and systems to achieve high scale and productivity.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability, self-discipline, and focus on delivering high-quality work.
