Job Summary:

The Claims Support Specialist utilizes their familiarity with the insurance industry, a thorough knowledge of processes and procedures, and technical acumen to answer client and provider questions, troubleshoot complex problems, and execute a variety of temporary and ongoing special projects.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A High School diploma or equivalent. Three years’ experience working in claims and two years supervising staff, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. A current and valid driver’s license within the state of practice.

LANGUAGE SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to read and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, ledgers, and procedural manuals. The ability to respond to inquiries or complaints clearly and appropriately. The ability to write routine reports and business correspondence. The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.

REASONING ABILITY REQUIREMENT:

The ability to solve problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY REQUIREMENT:

The ability to calculate figures/amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages.

COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Communication for this position entails minimal contact with external constituents up to 10% of the time and extensive contact with internal constituents up to 90% of the time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
