- This is a high-impact role for a seasoned finance leader who operates comfortably at altitude while remaining execution-grounded — someone who shapes company strategy, drives cross-functional alignment, and makes bold, data-driven decisions and recommendations that accelerate growth. You will own Backlight's strategic finance architecture end-to-end, from ARR reporting and long-range planning to M&A diligence and board-level storytelling.Responsibilities
- Drive financial strategy, translating company vision into frameworks that guide decision-making.
- Own and evolve our 5-year operating model, serving as the single source of truth for ARR, revenue, and costs.
- Prepare and present analysis for monthly finance reviews and Board of Directors meetings.
- Develop executive reporting that delivers clear, actionable insights into business performance, including ARR and customer data integrity.
- Build deep partnerships across GTM, Product, and Engineering, embedding finance as a strategic enabler.
- Lead financial evaluation and due diligence for M&A, developing business cases for strategic initiatives.
- Lead annual budget and forecasting processes, continuously improving planning infrastructure and championing transparency.
- Develop business cases and resource allocation frameworks for new strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- You've navigated complex financial landscapes and are ready to build something significant.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 10+ years of finance experience, with at least 7 in senior leadership.
- Proven executive presence; ability to influence at the board level.
- Deep experience partnering with GTM teams in B2B SaaS.
- Analytical rigor with a bias for action and data-driven outcomes.
- Demonstrated M&A experience, including diligence and integration.
- Experience building and scaling high-performing finance teams.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, acquisition-driven environment.
- Technical fluency in financial planning, SaaS metrics, and FP&A tooling.

- Master's degree or Private Equity experience.
