This document is one of the most influential clinical resources shaping standards of care, medical necessity determinations, and healthcare policy affecting autism services nationwide.

Position Summary

CASP seeks a visionary and highly respected clinical leader to serve as Vice President of Clinical Standards. This executive-level role will serve as the national steward of the ABA Practice Guidelines for Autism Spectrum Disorder and will lead efforts to promote, disseminate, operationalize, and evolve the generally accepted standards of care for healthcare-funded ABA services for ASD.

The Vice President of Clinical Standards will oversee development of the forthcoming Fourth Edition of the Practice Guidelines through a broad, multidisciplinary stakeholder process while also expanding adoption of the Guidelines among healthcare payers, universities, providers, policymakers, and other key audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Practice Guidelines Stewardship

Serve as executive lead and steward of the Applied Behavior Analysis Practice Guidelines for the Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder: Guidance for Healthcare Funders, Regulatory Bodies, Service Providers, and Consumers

Maintain oversight of updates, revisions, dissemination, and implementation

Monitor emerging research, policy, and healthcare trends affecting standards of care

Develop implementation resources, educational materials, and guidance documents

Fourth Edition Development

Recruit and coordinate a national representative coalition of diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts

Facilitate consensus-building activities and expert workgroups

Manage drafting, review, editing, and publication processes

Ensure multidisciplinary representation and transparency throughout development

National Dissemination & Education

Promote national awareness and adoption of the Practice Guidelines

Present at conferences, webinars, and professional meetings

Develop educational and implementation initiatives for providers and organizations

Engage healthcare purchasers, policymakers, and advocacy groups

Healthcare Payer Engagement

Promote operationalization of the Guidelines among commercial and governmental payers

Support licensing and commercial utilization initiatives

Improve consistency in medical necessity determinations and utilization management practices

University & Workforce Development

Familiarize university ABA training programs with the Practice Guidelines as the generally accepted standards of care for healthcare-funded ABA for ASD

Encourage integration into graduate curriculum, supervision, and clinical training

Develop relationships with academic leaders and training programs

Standards Leadership

Serve as a national spokesperson and resource on ABA clinical standards

Support evidence-based quality improvement initiatives

Collaborate with accreditation, quality, and policy organizations

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in behavior analysis, psychology, medicine, public health, or related field

BCBA or BCBA-D certification required

Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in autism services, healthcare quality, accreditation, payer relations, standards development

Founder, CEO, President, or Executive Director experience preferred

Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based practice and standards development

Experience working with multidisciplinary stakeholder groups

Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement systems and payer operations

Exceptional communication, writing, facilitation, and public speaking skills

Experience engaging with universities, researchers, and healthcare systems preferred

Established payer relationships and experience working collaboratively with health plans, managed care organizations, and related healthcare stakeholders

Experience reviewing and editing contracts or legal documents, with the ability to understand key terms, spot issues, and clearly communicate proposed revisions

Compensation
