Avista is a company focused on providing reliable energy solutions, and they are seeking a Transmission Line Design Engineer responsible for the planning, design, and analysis of high-voltage transmission lines. The role involves developing constructible and cost-effective designs while coordinating with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.


Responsibilities

  • Designs new or modifies design of existing electrical transmission lines
  • Determines line design parameters and identifies alternative line routes
  • Investigates, identifies, and recommends acquisition of rights-of-way for transmission lines
  • Initiates request for and supports permitting processes required
  • Calculates structure requirements and conductor sag-tension parameters
  • Specifies equipment, materials, and assemblies required
  • Provides physical and electrical designs for construction
  • Responsible for all specifications and drawings used for construction
  • Provides field engineering support while construction is in progress

Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in ABET accredited Engineering Program
  • Ability to utilize and manipulate GIS and digital terrain models
  • Experience using PLS-CADD Software and foundation design software
  • Minimum of one (1) year of engineering work experience for Assistant Engineer
  • Minimum of two (2) years of engineering work experience for Associate Engineer
  • Minimum of four (4) years engineering work experience for Engineer
  • Minimum of six (6) years engineering work experience for Senior Engineer
  • Demonstrated skills illustrating use of productivity, presentation, and analytical tools specific to area of expertise
  • Demonstrated technical leadership within engineering
  • Demonstrated positive and effective working relationships with internal and external parties
  • Specialty technical proficiency, project leadership, and ability to be self-directed
  • Effective and flexible communication skills
  • Understanding of Project Management Principles
