DLA Piper is a collaborative and supportive law firm that values its people. The Transactions Assistant - Private Equity supports paralegals and attorneys by organizing files, preparing documents, and maintaining databases, among other administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Organize documents for attorney review
- Research public records using internal and public websites
- Assist with preparing binders, preparing closing books, making copies, entering data, and maintaining files
- Perform database research and data entry
- Assist with closings
- Maintain closing checklists
- Obtain documents and other information from governmental agencies or public agencies
- Obtain information from accounting, timekeeping, and attorneys for responses
- Assist paralegals and attorneys with mailings and filings
- Assist with 83b elections
- Billing and invoice review/ processing
- Signature packets via DocuSign and SimplyAgree
- Other duties
Skills
- Demonstrated basic level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and database experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with paralegals, attorneys, and clients on a regular basis
- Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills necessary to manage volumes of documents, binders, letter, charts, etc
- Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines
- High School or GED
- 1 year Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment
- Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties
- Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner
- Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product
- Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required
- Foster positive work relationships
- Comply with all firm policies and practices
- Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment
- Office experience in a law firm environment supporting paralegals and/or attorneys preferred but is not required
- Bachelor's Degree
- Paralegal certificate preferred
