The Technology Specialist role involves working collaboratively with a team to design and enhance solutions for the insurance and investments industry using various backend technologies.
Responsibilities
- Be a part of a team of developers to design and enhance a wide range of solutions using a variety of backend technologies
- Recommend and implement system designs based on long-term IT organization strategy
- Work closely with business and systems analysts, and QA to develop alternative solutions to meet business needs
- Analyze production system problems and recommend solutions
- Investigate and solve production problems with minimal guidance
- Research and recommend technologies to the team and management to help keep our tech stack up-to-date
Skills
- Willingness and ability to learn new ways of working and different technologies
- Proficiency in C# .Net (VB.Net acceptable) with at least 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact SQL with at least 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with SOAP and/or RESTful services
- High motivation to be a team player and ability to be a strong individual contributor
- Effective verbal and written communications, with an ability to effectively convey information, concepts, and ideas to others
- Hands on experience using testing frameworks (i.e. NUnit, etc.) is an asset
- Experience with ORMs like Entity Framework is an asset
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field
