Role: Tableau Infrastructure Architect with Google Cloud Platform

Location: 100% Remote

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design
• Design and implement scalable Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud architectures on Google Cloud Platform.
• Architect high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and multi-region deployments.
• Define best practices for cloud-native Tableau infrastructure.
Google Cloud Platform Infrastructure Management
• Deploy and manage Tableau Server on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) using services such as:
• Compute Engine (VMs)
• Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) – optional containerized deployments
• Cloud Storage (GCS)
• Cloud SQL / BigQuery integration
• Configure networking components (VPC, subnets, firewall rules, load balancers).
Tableau Administration
• Install, configure, and upgrade Tableau Server in distributed/multi-node environments.
• Manage Tableau services (Gateway, VizQL, Backgrounder, Repository, Data Server).
• Perform capacity planning and environment scaling.
Performance Optimization
• Monitor and optimize Tableau performance (dashboards, extracts, queries).
• Tune infrastructure (CPU, memory, disk I/O) and optimize data sources.
• Analyze Tableau logs and usage metrics.
Security & Governance
• Implement enterprise-grade security including:
• SSO integration (SAML, OAuth, Google IAM)
• Role-based access control (RBAC)
• Ensure data governance, compliance, and auditing.
Data Integration
• Integrate Tableau with Google Cloud Platform data services such as:
• BigQuery
• Cloud SQL
• External data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift)
• Optimize live and extract-based connections.
DevOps & Automation
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Cloud Build.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform or Deployment Manager.
• Enable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Tableau environments.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
• Set up monitoring using:
• Cloud Monitoring & Logging
• Prometheus / Grafana (optional)
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve production issues.
Collaboration & Leadership
• Work closely with data engineers, BI developers, and cloud architects.
• Provide technical leadership and best practices.
• Mentor Tableau admins and developers.
