They are seeking a Structural (Bridge) CAD Designer/Drafter to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on the detailed design of transportation structures and providing superior customer experience.


Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff in the development of detailed design contract packages
  • Assistance to project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of transportation structures
  • Completion of detailed design drafting for a variety of project types
  • Application of 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and other specialty programs to produce design drawings
  • Preparation of construction drawings/documents
  • Calculation of quantity take-offs for concrete volumes, reinforcement, and miscellaneous steel for complex structures
  • Assistance with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for information
  • Coordination and completion of site assessments, construction observation and construction management of site documentation
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request

Skills

  • Diploma program from an accredited Architectural or Engineering Technologist Program, or equivalent
  • 0-5 Years of experience in the engineering consulting industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Proficient use of current AutoCAD and/or Revit software
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial/industry engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements
  • Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration
