The Staff Accountant will support accounting and analysis related to leases, fixed assets, and general ledger areas, while maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close activities, and producing financial reports.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record transactions related to fixed asset additions, disposals, and transfers
- Prepare daily and monthly journal entries, ensuring accurate account balances and compliance with GAAP
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets, on a monthly basis and investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare rent calculations and complete lease‑related accounting procedures in accordance with ASC 842, including CPI adjustments
- Communicate regularly with landlords, regional managers, and internal departments to support lease and asset‑related activities
- Account for foreign leases in accordance with ASC 842 and enter required data into CoStar
- Review accounts payable invoices coded to capital assets to ensure proper classification
- Assist with sublease accounting and preparation of landlord tenant improvement allowance invoices, as needed
- Support other month‑end close, project‑based accounting activities, and system implementations as required
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Internship experience to two years of relevant accounting experience
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications
- Experience with Workday and CoStar
