The A.C.Coy Company is currently hiring for a Senior Mainframe Systems Engineer. This individual will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical mainframe systems while driving platform improvements, ensuring high availability and performance, and championing best practices within a geographically dispersed data center environment. Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience in a z/OS mainframe environment and a strong track record of leading complex projects, troubleshooting critical issues, and mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities
Responsible for analyzing, designing, coding, testing and implementing technical solutions, as well as providing general production monitoring and support, meeting defined scope, target dates and budgets with minimal or no defects
Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, product, analytics, and business teams to gather requirements and provide technical solutions that meet organizational needs
Monitor work against production schedule and provide progress updates and report any issues or technical difficulties to leadership on a regular basis
Document technical processes and procedures, and participate in technical reviews and knowledge sharing sessions
Collaborate on the design and implementation of architecture to ensure solution alignment to enterprise goals and standards
Mentor other associate and intermediate technical engineers as needed
Perform technical analysis and provide insights to support decision-making across various departments
Qualifications
Required:
5 years of experience with IBM z/Series mainframe technology, including system maintenance, Performance and tuning, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues
5 years of technical problem solving, solution implementation, team/project collaboration
Strong z/OS Mainframe Systems Programming background, including SMPE, DB2, IMS, and CICS
Project management skills and experience - able to meet defined scope, target dates, and budgets
Preferred:
10 years of experience with IBM z/Series mainframe technology
Experience working with vendors to resolve software and systems issues
Able to work off-hours and weekends and scheduled, 24x7x365 on-call responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field
