About the Position

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Oil & Gas group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer in a manner that provides the client with a quality deliverable that is on time and within budget.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 / year

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.

This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform detailed mechanical engineering design for industrial and power generation facilities, including:

Equipment specification and datasheets for tanks, vessels, valves, skids, and packaged equipment
Piping design, line sizing, material selection, and development of line lists
Development and review of P&IDs, PFDs, and mechanical flow diagrams
Mechanical scope support for fuel gas systems, balance-of-plant systems, and auxiliary systems

Develop and review mechanical deliverables, including:

Equipment lists, manual valve lists, specialty item lists, and PSV lists
Piping isometrics for aboveground and underground systems
3D model development and interdisciplinary model coordination
Mechanical construction packages suitable for IFC issuance

Coordinate closely with Civil, Structural, Electrical, and I&C teams to ensure:

Mechanical equipment and piping interfaces are fully coordinated
Instrument connections, control valves, shutdown valves, and analyzer interfaces are properly defined
Electrical loads, heat tracing requirements, and equipment power needs are accurately communicated

Provide mechanical input to I&C scope, including:

Instrument and control valve selection support
Review of instrument datasheets and process connections
Participation in cause & effect and shutdown philosophy development as needed

Assist with:

Project cost estimating and scheduling for mechanical scope
Vendor technical evaluations and bid reviews
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning support
Field troubleshooting, construction support, and site walkdowns

Check and review work performed by designers and drafters for technical accuracy, constructability, and quality
Apply applicable codes and standards including ASME, API, NFPA, and other industry standards relevant to mechanical and piping systems
Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and coordination calls related to assigned projects
Prepare technical reports, design narratives, and mechanical scope descriptions for proposals and studies
Perform other duties as assigned

Must Have

Education: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
Licensure: FE is required; PE preferred
Experience with industrial mechanical systems, piping, and equipment design
Working knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, line sizing, and equipment specifications
Familiarity with gas-fired power plants, reciprocating generation, compressor stations, or similar facilities preferred
Understanding of mechanical interfaces with electrical and I&C systems
Proficiency with AutoCAD; 3D modeling experience preferred
Knowledge and familiarity with medium and low voltage distribution
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines
Client-facing experience and professional judgment
Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check work
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Work is performed in an office setting and some field work is also required

Team Member should identify discrepancies in assigned work and bring to attention of supervisor or engineer responsible for the project in a timely manner. Team Member’s work product should be self-checked in a manner that is suitable for review by the supervisor or engineer responsible for the project.
