Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst who possesses deep expertise in data engineering, ETL/ELT processes, and business intelligence tools. Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Healthcare Data Analyst at arenaflex, you will be responsible for leading and contributing to complex data projects that support our healthcare quality improvement and analytics initiatives. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with IT and Analytics Teams: Work closely with arenaflex's internal IT information design and analytics teams to execute and maintain data infrastructure conditions that enable report automation for our Healthcare Quality Improvement program and data commercialization efforts.
- Lead Cross-Functional Data Initiatives: Partner with a diverse team of data professionals, BI engineers, system administrators, and business stakeholders to deliver actionable performance insights across arenaflex Health. This collaboration will span multiple departments and require effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Drive Data and Insights Delivery: Lead the delivery of arenaflex Health data and insights-driven projects and initiatives, ensuring timely and accurate data availability for reporting and analytical purposes. This includes managing both long-term strategic data initiatives and ad-hoc analysis requests.
- Support Data Operations: Engage in ongoing data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and data warehousing activities to meet arenaflex Health's reporting and analytical requirements. This involves maintaining existing data pipelines while developing new solutions to address evolving business needs.
- Design Data Architecture: Plan, develop, and deploy layered databases and data pipelines that support reporting and analysis projects. Create robust, scalable data structures that enable efficient data retrieval and analysis across the organization.
- Establish Data Standards: Develop data staging and pre-processing standards for populating logical and physical data models attached to report-specific working tables. This includes creating standards for both enterprise business intelligence and predefined reporting solutions.
- Implement Best Practices: Apply data extraction, transformation, and loading best practices to integrate large datasets from various internal production system sources and third-party files. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency throughout the data pipeline.
- Perform Data Analysis: Conduct comprehensive data profiling and analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data, and standard healthcare datasets including member eligibility, clinical claims, pharmacy claims, and HEDIS ECDS files.
- Develop Automation Tools: Create internal tools for automating all development-related activities including data processing, quality assurance, data validation, and other repetitive tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:
- SQL Expertise: Proven hands-on experience writing and tuning SQL-based ETL/ELT scripts. Candidates should be comfortable with complex queries, stored procedures, performance optimization, and troubleshooting data pipeline issues.
- Cloud Data Platform Experience: Experience designing and deploying logically separated data environments using ETL/ELT services. Proficiency with platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake is essential. Candidates should understand cloud-based data architecture and be able to recommend appropriate solutions for various use cases.
- Business Intelligence Tools: Experience providing thought leadership and presenting semantic data layer enhancements related to BI technology platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker. Strong understanding of data visualization best practices and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with technical teams, internal stakeholders, clients, and vendor partners. Must be comfortable presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Business Acumen: Minimum of 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. Understanding of how data analysis impacts business outcomes and the ability to align data solutions with organizational objectives.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct management, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership experience. Demonstrated ability to mentor team members, lead projects, and drive results through others.
- Travel Capability: Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes, including both in-state and out-of-state travel as needed.
