Position Overview

Are you ready to take your data science career to the next level? At arenaflex, we are looking for a Senior Data Scientist who will apply highly complex, advanced data science, predictive analytics, and artificial intelligence techniques to generate actionable insights and meaningful recommendations. In this role, you will provide analytical consulting support for application development and cross-functional initiatives, working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for building models and tools using specialized techniques in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative methods. You will have the opportunity to work with large-scale datasets, develop innovative analytical solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities

• Model Development: Construct models and tools using specialized techniques in AI, statistical modeling, probability, and decision theory. Continuously optimize by adapting to new modeling methodologies and frameworks.
• Business Insight Generation: Understand the business reality behind large datasets and develop meaningful analytical solutions that drive informed decision-making.
• Statistical Analysis: Apply scientific rigor and statistical methods to analyze large volumes of data using advanced statistical techniques including predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, and data mining.
• Algorithm Development: Build recommendation and optimization algorithmic plans, perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and analytical computing.
• Programming & Technical Development: Program using technical stacks including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other relevant technologies.
• Machine Learning Implementation: Perform machine learning techniques, both supervised and unsupervised algorithms, to build predictive models and prescriptive solutions that support various business use cases.
• Algorithm Implementation: Assemble algorithms including decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K-means, anomaly detection, interpretable ML, Bayesian theory, and other advanced techniques.
• Cloud Computing: Utilize cloud computing platforms such as Azure and Databricks, with querying capabilities in Snowflake and other cloud data warehouses.
• Version Control & DevOps: Use programming tools and techniques including GitHub, continuous integration and delivery, and agile methodologies.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support.
• Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Deliver verbal and written communications to business clients and leadership teams with varying levels of technical knowledge, educating them about our systems while sharing insights and recommendations.

Essential Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience in data science, AI, quantitative or computational capabilities; OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in data science, AI, quantitative or computational capabilities.
• Advanced Degree Preferred: M.S. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field.

Experience Requirements: Minimum 4 years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create or optimize AI, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.

• Technical Proficiency: Advanced experience with SQL, Python, PySPark, or other programming languages.
• Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, pattern identification, distribution analysis, result visualization, and extracting insights to help businesses make informed data-driven decisions.
• Machine Learning Expertise: Experience using decision trees and building classifiers. Experience with supervised learning techniques (linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, etc.) and unsupervised learning methods (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal components).
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with Cloud ML platforms, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines.
• Experimental Design: Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests.
• Communication Skills: Advanced ability to convey rigorous technical concepts and considerations to non-specialists.
• Adaptability: Experience working in a dynamic environment with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results.
• Technical Advocacy: Experience effectively delivering technical solutions and advocating to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences.
• Business Impact: At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
• Leadership: At least 2 years of direct management, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership experience.
• Travel Availability: Willingness to travel up to approximately 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field.
• Experience working with IoT and Edge AI is a plus.
• Experience in Reinforcement Learning is a plus.
• Experience in Healthcare industry is a plus.
