Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Data Scientist to join our growing Information Science team in Santa Monica. In this role, you will work alongside a team of brilliant data scientists to solve sophisticated business problems using data science and machine learning. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including content, product, and marketing—to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements. Additionally, you'll play a key role in interpreting your discoveries for both technical experts and those without a technical background.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, your responsibilities will span the full data science lifecycle, from data acquisition to insight delivery. Here's what you can expect:
- Build and maintain data pipelines to collect, clean, and prepare data for machine learning models, ensuring data quality and reliability across all analytical processes.
- Develop and evaluate machine learning models to extract insights from data, make predictions, and generate recommendations that drive business value.
- Work with natural language processing algorithms to process and extract information from text-based data, enabling deeper understanding of customer behavior and content preferences.
- Build dashboards and visualizations to communicate your findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, making complex data accessible and actionable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data science practices and methodologies.
- Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives to ensure efficient delivery of project milestones.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data science, machine learning, and AI to drive innovation within the team.
What To Bring
We are looking for candidates who possess a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, Econometrics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of related experience in conducting statistical analysis and developing machine learning models using Python.
- Deep understanding of machine learning concepts and statistical techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning methods.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw insights and conclusions from data to inform model development and business decisions.
- A collaborative mindset and the desire to work with other data scientists, data engineers, and key stakeholders across the organization.
- Experience with ML frameworks such as Scikit-Learn and data processing libraries like Pandas or similar tools.
- Proficiency in SQL and distributed data technologies for handling large-scale datasets.
- Familiarity with data analysis and data visualization tools such as Streamlit, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent platforms.
- Excellent communication skills to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem-solving abilities with a passion for tackling complex business challenges through data-driven approaches.
Good To Haves
While not required, the following qualifications and experience would be highly valued in a candidate:
- An MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
- Ability to develop object-oriented Python code with strong emphasis on code quality, documentation, and maintainability.
- Experience deploying and maintaining pipelines using workflow management tools such as Airflow, Docker, Luigi, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of the latest natural language processing techniques, text embedding models, and familiarity with Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Experience fully integrating data science solutions into the business and operationalizing ML models in production environments.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure for scalable data processing and model deployment.
- Experience working in the streaming, media, or entertainment industry with an understanding of content metrics and viewer engagement analytics.
- Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies and experimental design for measuring causal impact.
