The Role: Senior Data Science Analyst

We are currently seeking a highly energetic and solution-oriented Senior Data Science Analyst to join our Search and Recommendations Analytics group. What You'll Do

• Conduct Unstructured Exploratory Data Analysis: Dive deep into our vast datasets to identify novel ideas and opportunities for improving search results and product recommendations. You'll use clustering, segmentation, and other advanced analytical techniques to generate new insights that inform our product roadmap.


• Design and Execute A/B Tests: Plan, implement, and analyze rigorous A/B experiments testing new recommendation algorithms and strategies. You'll develop innovative testing methodologies and statistical approaches that push the boundaries of traditional experimentation.


• Proactive Model Monitoring: Continuously monitor our recommendation models to identify potential issues before they impact customers. You'll determine root causes of anomalies and implement solutions to maintain optimal performance.


• KPI Reporting and Monitoring: Develop and maintain robust KPI reporting frameworks. This includes building anomaly detection tools and implementing advanced measurement approaches that provide real-time visibility into model performance.


• Build Automated Tools: Create new automated tools and frameworks that increase team efficiency and effectiveness. For example, we've developed internal QA tools that help us better understand algorithm performance before rolling out A/B tests.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and machine learning partners to build productive relationships and ensure alignment on priorities and initiatives.


• Communicate Insights: Present key findings and recommendations to cross-functional senior leaders across the organization. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts into business impact will be crucial.

What You'll Need

We're looking for candidates who bring a strong foundation in quantitative disciplines and have demonstrated experience applying data science techniques in real-world business settings. Here's what we require:

Essential Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or another quantitative discipline. A Master's degree is strongly preferred and will be given additional consideration.


• E-commerce Experience: Prior analysis or data science experience with e-commerce companies is highly valued. Understanding the unique challenges and opportunities in online retail will help you hit the ground running.


• Advanced SQL Proficiency: Deep experience with SQL is required, including complex functions, query optimization, stored procedures, string parsing, and familiarity with platforms like Vertica, Hive, Voila, or Flash.


• Python Expertise: Strong proficiency in Python and Python data science tools is essential, including Jupyter notebooks, pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, and related libraries.


• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindset. You must be able to clearly articulate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


• Proactive Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively and proactively communicate with partners across multiple teams and departments.
