In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing and executing robust ETL/ELT data pipelines, architecting and implementing database mappings, tables, and views, and building efficient batch processes using Apache Airflow across multiple enterprise projects. You'll collaborate closely with our Studios and Project Innovation teams to gather data requirements, develop and validate ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensure seamless deployment across development, QA/UAT, and production environments.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, your responsibilities will span the full data lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production deployment. Here's what you can expect:


  • Pipeline Design & Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using modern technologies including Apache Airflow, Python, and SQL. You'll ensure data flows seamlessly between various sources and destinations while maintaining data quality and integrity.

  • Database Architecture: Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and mappings that support our growing data infrastructure. You'll work with both relational and cloud-based database systems to optimize performance and scalability.

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Leverage AWS services including S3, EC2, and other cloud-native tools to build robust, scalable data solutions. Experience with AWS is highly preferred, and you'll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in cloud-based architectures.

  • Data Warehousing: Work with cutting-edge data warehouse technologies like Snowflake to build enterprise-scale data solutions. You'll design and implement data models that support business intelligence and analytics needs across the organization.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner with cross-functional teams including Studios, Project Innovation, and Business Intelligence to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

  • Code Quality & Best Practices: Champion best practices in data engineering, including version control with GitLab/GitHub, containerization with Docker, and adherence to coding standards.

  • Environment Management: Manage deployments across multiple environments including Development, QA/UAT, and Production, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime.

  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, schemas, and processes. Mentor junior team members and contribute to our knowledge base.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:


  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field

  • At least 2+ years of experience with SQL and database design

  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines

  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS and S3

  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role

  • 2+ years of experience managing a cloud platform

  • 2+ years of experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases

  • 2+ years of experience using GitLab/GitHub for version control

  • 2+ years of experience using Docker for containerization

  • Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, these qualifications will help you stand out:


  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience with Apache Airflow, GitLab, Snowflake, and Looker

  • Experience in streaming, media, or digital advertising domains

  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and best practices

  • Experience with real-time data processing and streaming architectures

  • Familiarity with machine learning workflows and MLOps practices
