Job Description

I am a health policy researcher and regulator developing a conceptual diagram used in teaching, policy presentations, and academic writing.

The figure illustrates the relationship between health system revenue growth and operating expense growth under payment reform, and how sustainability requires bending the cost curve before revenue growth slows.

I have an existing conceptual version of the figure and several drafts. I am looking for a designer to create a clear, professional visual suitable for presentations and publication.

This is not a data-heavy chart. It is a conceptual diagram with several trajectories that explain an economic relationship.

Scope of Work

The figure will include:

4–5 curved trajectories showing revenue and cost growth paths

a marker indicating the start of a “reform era”

shaded regions illustrating margin compression and cost adaptation

clear, minimal labeling directly on the lines

a clean editorial visual style

The goal is a graphic similar in style to figures used in:

The Economist

Financial Times

policy research reports

academic publications

The emphasis should be clarity and conceptual communication, not decorative design.

Deliverables

Adobe Illustrator source file

SVG and PDF versions suitable for publication

PNG version for presentations

2–3 rounds of revisions

What I will provide

the original slide version of the figure

a conceptual explanation of the curves and economic relationships

reference examples of visual styles I prefer

Ideal experience

Looking for designers with experience in:

data visualization

scientific illustration

policy or research graphics

editorial infographic design

Please include examples of conceptual diagrams, research figures, or data visualization work in your portfolio.

This is a single-figure project with a clear scope, but the figure may be reused in presentations and publications, so clarity and professional quality are important.
