Our client, a forward-thinking organization dedicated to advancing sustainable agricultural practices globally, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Remote Soil Scientist & Agronomist to contribute to their vital initiatives. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to leverage your expertise from anywhere. You will play a crucial role in researching, analyzing, and advising on soil health, crop nutrition, and land management strategies to enhance agricultural productivity while minimizing environmental impact. Responsibilities include conducting virtual field assessments, interpreting soil and plant tissue data, developing customized fertilization and irrigation plans, and recommending best practices for soil conservation and regeneration. You will collaborate closely with farmers, agricultural researchers, and policymakers through virtual platforms, providing expert guidance and support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for sustainable farming. You must be adept at using various data analysis tools and software, and comfortable communicating complex scientific information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. Your work will directly contribute to improving food security, promoting biodiversity, and mitigating climate change through innovative agricultural solutions. This role requires a self-starter who can manage their time effectively, work independently, and deliver high-quality results in a remote setting. Key responsibilities include: Conducting in-depth analysis of soil samples and crop health data, utilizing advanced laboratory and remote sensing technologies. Developing and recommending scientifically-based soil management and fertility programs to optimize crop yields and quality. Providing expert agronomic advice on sustainable farming practices, including cover cropping, no-till farming, and integrated pest management. Researching and evaluating new agricultural technologies and methodologies for soil improvement and water conservation. Collaborating virtually with a global network of farmers, researchers, and extension agents to share knowledge and best practices. Assisting in the design and implementation of field trials and research projects. Preparing comprehensive reports, technical documents, and presentations on soil science and agronomy topics. Staying current with the latest advancements in soil science, plant nutrition, and sustainable agriculture. Providing guidance on land use planning and restoration for degraded agricultural lands. Educating stakeholders on the importance of soil health for environmental sustainability and food production. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Soil Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a closely related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in soil science and agronomy, with a focus on sustainable agriculture. Proven experience with soil testing interpretation and fertilizer recommendations. Familiarity with remote sensing data and GIS applications in agriculture is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively. Proficiency in relevant scientific software and data analysis tools. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects remotely. Passion for sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. Experience in international agricultural development is a plus.
