Key Responsibilities: Analyze and underwrite complex insurance applications across various lines of business, ensuring adherence to established guidelines and risk appetite. Evaluate policy risks by thoroughly reviewing applicant information, financial data, inspection reports, and other relevant documentation. Determine appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and pricing to ensure profitability and competitive positioning. Make sound underwriting decisions based on comprehensive risk assessment and data analysis. Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers and agents, providing them with expert guidance and timely responses. Identify opportunities for business growth while managing risk effectively. Stay current with market trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in underwriting best practices. Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and legal departments to resolve complex issues and refine underwriting policies. Mentor and train junior underwriters, sharing knowledge and expertise. Contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting processes and tools. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of comprehensive experience in insurance underwriting, with a focus on complex risks. Proven track record of making sound underwriting judgments and managing a profitable book of business. In-depth knowledge of insurance products, policy structures, risk management principles, and relevant regulations. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Strong negotiation and communication abilities, with the capacity to articulate complex decisions clearly. Proficiency in underwriting software and data analysis tools. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote environment. Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or similar are highly preferred.
