Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Mortenson is currently seeking a Safety Engineer to implement their Zero Injury Safety program at construction project sites. The role involves ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors, while managing safety-related activities and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Implement and administer safety program at each worksite, assist in developing site-specific safety activities, conduct safety orientation/training
- Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, analyze safety data, assist with major incident analysis, manage OSHA reporting
- Review safety submittals, monitor trade partner work plans, assist with onsite injury management, organize safety celebrations, participate in project planning/hazard analysis
- Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, maintain knowledge of safety standards/regulations, serve as safety resource, attend/chair safety meetings
- Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, accompany safety/health/OSHA personnel on tours, ensure maintenance of safety equipment, manage PPE and safety budget
- Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Skills
- High school diploma with CHST or STS certification
- OSHA 30 Hour training
- Minimum five years of construction experience
- Detail-oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety-related software programs
- Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
- Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Effective public speaking and presentation skills
- Effective communication and active listening skills
- Openness to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel up to 100%
- Bachelor's or associate's degree in occupational safety, health, or related field
- Previous related internship experience
- Current driver's license
