[Remote] Network Engineer (SME)

They are seeking a Network Engineer (SME) to handle network and system administration, integration enhancements, and maintenance of AvMC's classified and unclassified infrastructure, ensuring it remains secure, reliable, and compliant with requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, implement, upgrade, and maintain classified and unclassified network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and virtual networking components
  • Upgrade network configurations to support evolving modeling, simulation, and test requirements
  • Configure and maintain VLANs, routing, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, NTP, and network segmentation
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and configuration issues
  • Maintain network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and baselines
  • Assist with IT modernization and technology refresh initiatives
  • Perform configuration, preventative maintenance, fault isolation of local/remote LAN equipment, and telecommunications circuitry
  • Duties may include providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture; providing information for hardware and software selection; and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  • Plan implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the classified and unclassified networks
  • Conduct testing of network systems and associated devices
  • Evaluate and report on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
  • Conduct audit of equipment and production systems and create appropriate reports
  • Provide guidance to junior team members to achieve objectives in accordance with established policies

Skills

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (Master's Preferred)
  • Great communication and organizational skills
  • Fifteen (15) years of prior experience in a similar role
  • DoD 8570 Level II/III certification desired
  • Active Security Clearance Required
