Remote Entry-Level Medical Billing Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Medical Billing Assistant to support our medical billing and revenue cycle team. This is a great opportunity for someone in healthcare administration and medical billing.

The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, and comfortable working with data, systems, and healthcare documentation. Must have some understanding of medical billing.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist with basic medical billing tasks including charge entry, claim submission, and payment posting
• Verify that patient and provider information is accurate before claim submission
• Assist with reviewing claims for errors and making corrections as needed
• Help follow up on unpaid or denied claims under supervision
• Maintain organized records within billing systems and payer portals
• Support communication with insurance companies regarding claim status
• Assist with tracking accounts receivable and basic reporting
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and billing guidelines
• Work closely with the billing team to learn workflows and improve efficiency

Preferred Qualifications
• Medical billing, healthcare administration, or revenue cycle management
• Basic understanding (or willingness to learn) of:
• ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes
• Insurance claims and billing processes
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy (Required)
• Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, and software systems
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Ability to learn quickly and follow structured processes (Required)

Nice to Have (Not Required)
• Previous experience in a medical office, billing, or administrative role
• Exposure to electronic health records (EHR) or billing software
• Basic knowledge of insurance types (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial)

Important Note to Applicants

This is an entry-level position designed for candidates who are willing to learn and grow in medical billing. Training will be provided, but candidates should be prepared to develop a strong understanding of the billing process quickly.

The position will have daily metrics monitored for efficiency so attention to detail and speed are absolutes! The minimum requirement is 150 charge entries per day after training is completed. Current billers do 200 per day.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
