The Remote Building Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing building systems and infrastructure through remote platforms. This role ensures the efficient operation of HVAC, electrical, security, and energy management systems across one or multiple facilities.
The ideal candidate is technically proficient, detail-oriented, and experienced in building automation systems, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and maintain operational efficiency from a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control building systems remotely, including HVAC, lighting, and energy systems
Respond to system alerts, alarms, and operational anomalies in real time
Perform remote diagnostics and troubleshooting of building systems
Ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and system uptime
Coordinate with on-site technicians and vendors for maintenance and repairs
Maintain logs, reports, and documentation of system performance and incidents
Support preventive maintenance programs and scheduling
Analyze system data to identify trends and recommend improvements
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
Utilize building automation platforms such as Siemens Desigo or Johnson Controls Metasys
Assist with system upgrades, commissioning, and integration projects
Qualifications
Education
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, HVAC Technology, or a related field preferred
Experience
2 to 5 years of experience in building operations, facilities management, or HVAC systems
Experience with building automation systems (BAS) or building management systems (BMS) preferred
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems
Experience with remote monitoring tools and automation platforms
Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Basic understanding of networking and system integration
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Effective communication and coordination skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Familiarity with energy management and sustainability practices
Compensation
Annual Salary Range: $55,000 to $80,000 USD, depending on experience and technical expertise
Shift differentials, on-call pay, or performance incentives may be available
