Project Engineer

VMC Group is a technology-driven manufacturing company seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join their growing team. This role bridges the gap between engineering and sales by managing commercial HVAC construction projects and generating competitive proposals.

Responsibilities

• Create custom technical details for pre- and post-award phases
• Serve as liaison between the engineering and sales departments
• Facilitate change requests, communicating impacts on scope, budget, and schedule
• Analyze project documentation to ensure compliance with specifications and codes
• Manage HVAC commercial construction projects from initiation through completion
• Use pricing schedules and internal tools to develop accurate proposals
• Monitor project progress, maintain timelines, and adjust as needed
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, and subcontractors to align goals and deliverables
• Generate quotes, submittals, and transmittals using internal resources
• Conduct job site inspections and provide detailed technical reports
• Support strategic sales initiatives and maintain accurate project records
• Provide technical training and support for internal teams and customers

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is preferred but will consider other engineering degrees
• ANSI/ASHRAE/IES standards knowledge a big plus
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Inventor is preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
• 15% to 25% Travel possibility
• Experience in commercial construction or HVAC engineering preferred not required
• Experience with vibration isolation and seismic/wind restraint is a plus
• Bilingual is a plus
