Nuclear Safety Engineer

They are seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to perform engineering calculations and support various safety evaluations under mentorship while developing skills for independent assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations related to nuclear safety, fluid flow, probability risk assessment, equipment qualification, heat and mass transfer, by managerPrepare appropriate documentation supporting evaluations and analyses
• Verify routine design evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified
• Interface on a limited basis with customers, vendors, and other teams on engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments
• Obtain results to routine technical problems
• Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and support the strategic initiatives
• Identify and recommend improvements in processes on continuing basis and support implementation and identify and help develop new business opportunities
• Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirements
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical)
• 0-2 years coding experience in one or more of the following areas: Mathcad, C++, Fortran, and Visual Basic
• Experience in dispersion modeling and severe accident modeling and analysis
• Experience in thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, specifically with RELAP
• Experience in facility hazard modeling and analysis
• Experience in equipment qualification
• Laboratory experience with custom experiments
